Learn how to get all those annoying stains out that come with the summer months.
Sud the Mud
It’s one thing for your kids to get dirt and mud stains on their clothes, but it’s another thing when they’re tracking it in the house and ALL over your furniture. It’s not like you can throw your sofa in the washer! Luckily with a little water and liquid detergent your stain will be as good as gone.
If the mud on your furniture has already started drying, scrape it off and treat it with the water and detergent solution you created.
Dairy Disaster
Summer and ice cream go together like a good movie and popcorn. But because ice cream melts in the heat, eating this delicious dessert can get awfully messy. If you’re prone to spilling little drops from your scoop, there is a way to get that devilish dairy stain out. Cold water is the simple trick when it comes to wiping away milky products - that and being quick!
Of course, if you happen to love ice cream with sprinkles, rubbing alcohol is fantastic for all those food coloring stains.
Sunscreen Everything
It’s inevitable to avoid sunscreen in summer unless you plan on staying indoors the rest of the season. So, when you actually do have to lather that sun shield all over, it’s likely you’ll get a little on your clothes, and potentially whatever you happen to brush up against. Luckily, there is a mixture that will get those stains out and it only takes about 30 minutes to work!
Combine a powder detergent and water into a bowl to make a paste. Rub the concoction on the stain and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Wash it off and voila! The sunscreen should be gone!
No Sweat!
It’s been a hot summer, which means you’re probably sweating up a storm. Whether you’re lounging on your outdoor couch or coming inside to beat the heat and pass out on your indoor recliner, there’s a chance you’re going to make sweat marks on your furniture.
To remove these nasty smudges, we suggest first using a steamer to help lift the stains to the surface and then using a liquid detergent to scrub the markings. Wipe it down with a wet washcloth to clean the area up and create a sweat-free zone.
Stains happen, but there’s no need to stress about it. For the most part, there’s usually a way to remove them but if you’re struggling to get out a really nasty stain, there’s always the option of new furniture. Stop by our store to get help on all your furniture needs!
